My Work is About

I'm collecting current and past artists’ statements for a research project titled "My Work is About.”

"My Work is About” explores how BIPOC and underrepresented artists have navigated the intersections of art and identity in professional contexts, specifically within the form of the artist’s statement.

Your historical and contemporary artist’s statement(s) could provide invaluable insights into this research. I am asking interested artists to submit their past and/or current artist’s statements and a short written response to explain why they chose to include or leave out what they did.

If you're interested in participating, I would like to include your artist’s statement(s) in my research. At present, this is an independent, self-funded research project. I am also collecting information from public sources.

Contributions will be fully credited. If the project develops beyond this initial research, I will update contributors on the project’s progress. Though all contributions will be reviewed, inclusion in further research outputs and publication is at the discretion of the author and is not in any way guaranteed. Submission of statements is voluntary.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with me. Please share this call with practitioners who may be interested.

Thank you for your time!
